A dramatic Brazilian film inspired by two short stories by Hilda Hilst (Matamoros and The Unicorn), a Brazilian poet, fiction writer, columnist and playwright whose works address mysticism, insanity, eroticism and female sexual liberation, which I was unfamiliar with, and I became a fan of. The film presents exactly these elements, with beautiful photography, reading between the lines, deafening silence, dialogue in the actions, vibrant colors and a beautiful unicorn, charmingly poetic... Maria is sitting on a bench next to her father and the conversation they have there drives the narrative of the film. We follow the story in the rustic country house, where she lives with her mother and await the return of this same father. The relationship between Maria and her mother changes with the arrival of another man.
