**Português** **_"Chapéus há muitos, seu palerma!"_** Para aqueles que não conhecem bem o cinema português mas gostariam de o conhecer, este filme é daqueles que não pode faltar, na medida em que é um dos maiores clássicos do cinema português. Passa-se nos anos Trinta e conta a história de Vasco Leitão, um jovem estudante universitário que deve ser natural do Norte de Portugal e foi para Lisboa estudar na Faculdade de Medicina. Mas a grande cidade está cheia de tentações para estudantes boémios e o nosso Vasco acaba por se perder em farras, fados e guitarradas, ao ponto de faltar às aulas os sete dias da semana (como ele mesmo admite). Sem surpresas, chegou ao exame final do curso e reprovou. Após esse desaire, uma carta revela-lhe que vai receber a visita de umas tias nortenhas, as grandes financiadoras dos seus estudos, e a quem ele dissera por carta que já era Doutor, pedindo enormes somas de dinheiro para montar um consultório... E agora o "Vasquinho da Anatomia" terá de esconder às tias que chumbou e "não passa de um grande aldrabão" (nas palavras do rival dele, Quincas). Outro problema que terá de enfrentar é a oposição do alfaiate Caetano ao namoro com a sua filha Alice... Dirigido por Cottinelli Telmo, tem como protagonista o renomado actor Vasco Santana, que é um dos vultos mais eminentes da comédia portuguesa do século XX. Conta também com a participação de Beatriz Costa e António Silva. Obviamente é um filme antigo mas envelheceu muito bem, continuando muito popular entre os portugueses e sendo exibido na televisão nacional regularmente. Até há pessoas, como eu próprio, que sabem os diálogos do filme quase de cor e que decoraram e cantam o famoso "Fado do Estudante", melodia ímpar com que Vasco lamenta a sua sorte. Sendo uma comédia antiquada, podemos esperar por piadas de contexto e situacionais, bem como os jogos de palavras, muito do agrado dos portugueses. Mas o facto é que o filme nunca perdeu a piada. Eu mesmo vi-o quinhentas ou mil vezes e continuo a rir. O cinema não é uma arte muito estimada em Portugal hoje em dia. Eu mesmo canso-me de dizer que o cinema nacional, hoje em dia, divide-se em filmes brejeiros e cheios de ordinarices ou filmes tão intelectuais que é preciso ter um doutoramento em filosofia para entender. Mas no passado o cinema português era agradável e fazia parte da cultura e do quotidiano das pessoas. Este filme faz parte dessa época dourada, sendo parte importante da herança cultural cinematográfica do meu querido país. Um filme recomendado para toda a família, tem cenas que se tornaram famosas e piadas que todos os portugueses sabem bem, como a famosa frase que coloquei por título. Ver este filme e saber apreciá-lo é mais que um sinal de bom gosto, é um sinal de amor à pátria e à nossa cultura. **English** _**"Chapéus há muitos, seu palerma!"**_ For those who don't know the Portuguese cinema well but would like to know it, this film is one of those that they cannot miss since its one of its greatest classics. It happens in the Thirties and tells the story of Vasco, a young university student from Northern Portugal who went to Lisbon in order to study Medicine. But the big city is full of temptations for bohemian students and he ends up getting lost in frolics and night shows, to the point of missing classes seven days a week (as he himself admits). Unsurprisingly, he failed his final exam. After this, a letter reveals to him that he will receive the visit of two aunts, the great financiers of his studies, and to whom he had said, in a letter, that he was already a Doctor, and asking for enormous sums of money to begin practicing medicine... And now he will have to hide from his aunts he failed his exams and "he is nothing but a big liar" (in the words of his rival, Quincas). Another problem that will have to face is the opposition of Caetano to the courtship with his daughter Alice... Directed by Cottinelli Telmo, it has the renowned actor Vasco Santana, who is one of the most eminent figures of Portuguese comedy of the twentieth century. Also counts with the participation of Beatriz Costa and António Silva. Obviously its an old movie, but it has aged very well, remaining popular among the Portuguese and being shown on national television regularly. There are even people, like myself, who memorized some dialogues, jokes or songs like famous "Fado do Estudante". Being an old-fashioned comedy, we can expect contextual and situational jokes, as well as puns, much to the liking of the Portuguese. But the fact is that the movie never ceased to be fun. I've seen it five hundred or a thousand times and I'm still laughing. Cinema is not a very esteemed art in Portugal nowadays. I am tired of saying that our cinema is now divided into filthy films, full of obscenities, or such intellectual films that its necessary to have a PhD to understand. But in the past Portuguese cinema was pleasant and part of our culture and daily life. This film is part of this golden age, being an important part of the cultural heritage of my beloved country. A film recommended for the whole family, it has scenes that have become famous and jokes that all Portuguese know well, as the famous sentence that I put here, by title. Seeing this film, and knowing how to appreciate it, is more than a sign of good taste, its a sign of love for our country and culture.
