Lovely horror special effects, an unpretentious film that surprisingly pleased, three (wasted) wishes, three (fabulously fantastic) stories, visually stunning, charmingly captivating, three fictions loosely based on true stories, Tilda Swinton always androgynously exceptional in perfect chemistry with the captivating genie of the lambada, we are left wanting more, an ending that falls short… Fun, passionate, dramatic and visually wonderful... A fantastic adventure of the imagination where a woman who discovers a genie in a lamp - and knows that no story about granted wishes has a happy ending - refuses to make her 3 wishes that would free the genie. He, in an effort to convince her, narrates his adventures in time with flashbacks of the ages of kings and pharaohs and how loving the wrong woman forced him to become a prisoner of this bottle and, therefore, live alone for all eternity. He longs for freedom, she longs for company. Their relationship grows and, as they sacrifice their own needs for each other, they find in each other what they have always longed for and needed.
