The three women of the Soares family, former landowners and slaves, have just returned to the capital of São Paulo. Lost after the death of their last servant, they try to adapt to the changes in Brazil. At the same time, the Nascimento family, who worked as slaves on the Soares farm, now faces a society in which there is no room for the newly freed blacks. Between Brazil's past and present, in a displaced way, everyone struggles to survive in the modern world.
